United Water emergency crews continue to make progress in repairing a broken 24-inch water transmission main in Jersey City. The company expects that the repairs will be completed tonight and normal water pressures will be restored throughout Jersey City.
A boil water advisory issued for the city remains in place until further notice. The company is testing water samples from throughout Jersey City and will provide the laboratory results to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection. It typically takes 24-48 hours before a boil water advisory can be lifted.
Customers in Jersey City are advised to boil their water at a rolling boil for one minute for the following uses: drinking, cooking, baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets or other consumption.
Customers can obtain water from a water tanker is located at Sip Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard. They should bring containers with caps.
